Crowdcut / YouTube to Shorts

Long YouTube videos into Shorts, without scrubbing the timeline.

Paste a link or upload the file. Crowdcut transcribes the whole video, ranks the moments that land, and cuts them to vertical with captions.

Cut by Crowdcut from a 43-minute YouTube video, picked at the loudest moment.

In short

Paste a YouTube link and Crowdcut turns it into Shorts: it transcribes the video, reads the chat replay on past streams and timestamps viewers left in the comments, ranks the moments with a real payoff, and cuts them to vertical 9:16 with word-by-word captions. Shorts download with a title, description and tags.

How it works

  1. Paste the link

Any YouTube video or upload. Several links at once make a series.

  2. The best moments are ranked

Loudness, the transcript and comment timestamps point to the parts worth cutting.

  3. Pick, approve, export

Approve the ones you want and download them with a title, description and tags.

Videos, past streams and long uploads

Paste any public YouTube video or past live stream, or upload the file. Several links at once make a series. A one-hour video takes a few minutes to analyse; multi-hour streams are processed in 30-minute sections so the first clips arrive early.

How the moments are picked

On a past stream, the chat replay shows where viewers reacted. On any video, the transcript and the loudness curve show where something happens, and a language model ranks candidate windows for a clear setup and payoff. When viewers comment a timestamp ("12:41 😂"), those moments are weighted higher.

Shorts that read without sound

Captions are timed to each spoken word with the current word highlighted, grouped into phrases that end at punctuation or a pause. Three hook drafts are written from the transcript. YouTube Shorts can run up to 3 minutes for square or vertical video; Crowdcut cuts 8 to 90 seconds, about 30 by default, which suits most Shorts.

Posting to YouTube

Crowdcut doesn't upload to YouTube through the API yet. Each approved clip has an export pack (the MP4, a title, description and tags) to upload in YouTube Studio, and a "Mark as posted" button so your queue stays right. TikTok is the one-click path: approved clips land in your TikTok drafts.

What it costs

Two clips from any public link are free, with no sign-up; demo clips carry a small Crowdcut mark. Clipper ($29/month) includes 40 clips a month from pasted links and uploads. Edits and re-renders of a clip you already have never count again, so changing the caption style or trimming a Short costs nothing extra. If a channel is your main source, Creator ($79/month) includes 100 clips and one watched channel.
