How to clip a Twitch VOD after the stream
Updated · Crowdcut
After you go offline, open Videos → Past broadcasts, then find the moments: the chat replay shows where viewers reacted, and the Clips tab shows what they clipped. Cut each moment (starting a few seconds before it), reframe to vertical, caption it, and post. Do it within a week, because Twitch deletes most past broadcasts after 7 days.
Find the VOD and check it's kept
Past broadcasts must be switched on (Settings → Stream → Store past broadcasts; on by default for Affiliates and Partners). They're kept 7 days on most channels, 14 for Affiliates, 60 for Partners and Turbo or Prime. Save a highlight if you need longer.
Use the chat replay
Twitch replays chat alongside the VOD. Bursts of messages, walls of the same emote and "clip it" mark the moments. On a long stream, scrubbing the replay by hand takes a while; Crowdcut reads it automatically and ranks the windows where chat moved faster than its own recent pace.
Check what viewers clipped
The Clips tab on your channel shows clips viewers made during the stream, with their titles. When several people clipped the same moment, it's a strong one. Note the time in the VOD, then cut a clean version yourself: viewer clips are often cut a little late.
Cut, reframe, caption
Start on the setup, end on the reaction. Stack the facecam over gameplay for a 9:16 frame, burn in word-by-word captions, add a hook. Paste the VOD into the free Twitch clip maker to see two done for you.
